The Room Inbetween is the creative persona of Jackson Rubinstein. Jackson is a Washington DC-based musician, audio engineer, and video editor.

This journey began at an early age for Jackson, who created his YouTube channel in 2008 at the age of 12. Throughout middle and high school, he made hundreds of videos, garnering millions of views on YouTube. During this time, he also played guitar and bass in a variety of rock and metal bands. Between his passion for music and propensity for computers and technology, recording music became an obvious pursuit.

While studying audio production at American University in Washington DC, Jackson gained proficiency in multiple aspects of audio engineering. He built upon his skills in music production, but also gained valuable experience in sound design, sonic branding/marketing, sound for film and video games, and music theory. For his final capstone project, he wrote, recorded, mixed, and mastered his first solo album - 2017's "Arboreal Communication". Included with the album was a full-length video accompaniment. And with that, The Room Inbetween was born!

Since graduating, Jackson has continued to grow both technically and creatively. He has released 4 solo albums, 1 collaborative album (as "Polkey"), and produced/engineered music for multiple artists. He has also developed as a visual artist, creating several stylistically vivid and surreal video shorts. With many more projects in the works, the future is bright for The Room Inbetween!
